A Tale of Sand

Written by: Jim Henson and Jerry Juhl
Artfully realized by: Ramon K. Perez

What a fun, fast-paced, bizarre, crazy read this is!! Truly one of Jim’s best projects this story takes you on the whirlwind adventures of Mac, in a roundabout tale of being trapped in a never-ending cycle.

Perez’s art is fantastic as he brings to life the only feature-length screenplay Henson was never able to bring to the screen. Mac’s adventures pit him against a dastardly villain with an eyepatch, a lion, arabs and football players, and Melrose Mernly (his friends call him Sven).

This amazing story is so much fun to read, I read it twice in one sitting. The story has throwbacks to Jim’s early work on “Time Piece” and “The Cube”, and very much involves being stuck in ones own head or in a never-ending circle of events. With an amazing forward from Karen Falk and an afterword by Jim’s daughter Lisa this is a must read for anyone who is a fan of Jim Henson and the art of filmmaking.
